Talyllyn Railway

The Talyllyn Railway is a narrow gauge line using steam locomotives on all advertised passenger trains. It was opened in 1865 and runs inland from Tywyn on the Mid Wales Coast to Nant Gwernol. Much of the Railway is within the Snowdonia National Park with waterfalls at Dolgoch and extensive Award Winning Forest Walks at Nant Gwernol.

The Llangollen Railway

Part of the Ruabon to Barmouth line, our Railway closed to passenger traffic in 1965, and to goods in 1968. The track and signalling was removed the following month, and for seven years the buildings and trackbed were left at the mercy of nature. The rebirth of the line began with an open day in September 1975, with 60 feet of track; since then the line has rarely looked back.

The Welsh Highland Railway Project

This is where you can find out all about the project led by the Ffestiniog Railway to rebuild and operate the Welsh Highland Railway, a neighbouring line running through the mountains of Wales which closed in the 1930s. The first three-mile section of the new line from Caernarfon opened in October 1997 and approval has now been granted to rebuild the whole line. Rapid development and extension of the line is planned for the years ahead.

Snowdon Mouuntain Railway
